Still figuring out what to wear for Valentine's Day this weekend? Whether you're having a romantic date night with your boo, or hitting the town with your girls, I've got you covered!
As with any outfit you put together, it's important to dress for yourself. Yes, Valentine's Day might be associated with reds, pinks, and feminine patterns, but if that's not your jam don't feel like you need to put on a pink dress just because it's February 14th. It's still possible to be festive, and dress in a way that's true to you, without being a walking Vday mascot.
Personally, I feel sexiest in black and prefer a look with a little edge, but I also like to be festive, and wanted to wear an outfit with elements of romance and femininity. To solve this little conundrum I opted for a black and white, floral patterned, romper and paired it with my leather jacket - the floral pattern creates a romantic look, and the leather jacket adds a little edge. Win - win. Since I feel best in black, I opted to leave the red for my lips and the accents on my necklace. This look exudes a Valentine vibe, but still feels true to my personal style. My advice on your Valentine look, or any look ever, is to do the same. Because let's be honest - the most beautiful version of yourself is when you're true to who you are.
Now that we've talked outfit, let's talk love. There are always so many different sentiments people feel about this day: some love it, some hate it, and some allow their feelings on the day to be contingent on their relationship status. I know this holiday has been branded, by The Powers That Be at Commercial Holidays Inc., as a day exclusive for couples, but it's never been only about that for me. When you boil it down, the true essence of this holiday is love, so whether you're flying solo or coupled up, use this day to reflect on, and celebrate, all the different types of love you have in your life: boo love, bestie love, furfriend love, and family love. Let those who enrich your world and make your heart happy, know how much you love them.
Happy Valentine's Day! Love big. Love deep.
