I can't believe this Thursday is Thanksgiving already! I really love the holiday season so I can't say I'm disappointed, just endlessly surprised at how quickly the holidays speed around the corner every year. Anyone else?
The Thanksgiving menu for my family's feast is something of a traditional Turkey Day spread with Italian flare (shout out to Grandma's lasagna!). Sitting around the table with my family eating, drinking, and laughing is one of my favorite parts of this holiday, as I'm sure so many of you agree, but although the feast might be the main attraction of the day, the real root of this holiday is gratitude.
I've discussed the importance of gratitude in previous posts, and love that this holiday serves as a national reminder to think of all we have to be grateful for. As we go about our daily lives, it's easy to get caught up thinking about the things we want, but don't have. Thoughts that go something like, "If only I had _____ I would be happy." The _____ could be anything: more money, a better job, a significant other, whatever you feel is your golden ticket to happiness. The truth is, our happiness comes from realizing what we do have and being grateful for that. It is with thankfulness that our lives are full, happy, and abundant. It is with thankfulness that we realize we have everything we need.
For my outfit inspiration this week I'm rocking a pair of black cropped flare jeans and a hunter green faux fur jacket. I must admit I have a thing for fur - jackets, collars, vests, capes, but probably not boots (sorry, Flo Rida!) - so when I saw this jacket it was hard to say no. The good news is, with Thanksgiving being this week and the holidays around the corner, I will put this jacket to good use. Fur takes any outfit to the next level by adding the perfect amount of glam, which makes it such a perfect complement to holiday attire. Whether you want to glitz up a fancy look, or add a little spark while still remaining casual, fur is your answer. Oh - and this faux fur jacket was super affordable! Eat. Drink. And be thankful.
