Is it Friday yet? It has been one of those weeks that just dragggg on by so I must say I'm very eagerly awaiting the weekend! Anyone else? The boo and I are going to see 'The Father' with Frank Langella on Broadway tonight and I'm really looking forward to it. I love the theater. It's one of the few places you can go and completely shut off. Where the outside world disappears as the theater lights go down and the stage lights come up. Where you can get lost in a live, unfolding story and share an experience with a room full of strangers. Storytelling - there's nothing like it.
When you think about it, we're all telling our own stories every moment of every day - in what we do, where we live, who we love, and, of course, how we dress. In the theater costume plays a big part in the storytelling, just as how we dress ourselves every day can tell a lot about our own story. It's only the outer shell, of course, but still holds a lot of information.
The story I'm telling this week is one filled with hope for spring in the city. The weather in NYC has been oddly cold for May, but I am dressing otherwise and hoping to bring on some full-time sunshine! A few things I'm obsessed with lately: lace-up sandals, square neck scarves, and the Dudley Stephens poncho. I can't put my finger on what exactly it is I love about lace-ups, but I'm addicted. From stilettos, to flats, to the thick heeled sandal I'm wearing in this post - I've never met a lace-up I didn't love! Onto the square neck scarf - ever put on an outfit and feel like you need a little something extra? Square neck scarves are the answer. They're one of my favorite accessories and I'm showing two different ways to style them below. Lastly, the Dudley Stephens poncho - with spring being cooler than normal, this poncho has been a lifesaver! Its super soft material is made by Polartec, and it's so easy to throw over anything from this denim skirt to a pair of denim jeans.
That's the story!
