Less Who, More You

Fashion is not necessarily about labels. It’s not about brands. It’s about something else that comes from within you.
— Ralph Lauren

Now, I know this quote might seem a bit ironic considering all labels I am wearing in this post, but this statement couldn't be more in line with my sentiments on style. Unless you're making your own clothes (and, in which case, I salute you), or running around naked (in which case, I salute you again), we all wear some degree of labels and brands every day - it can't really be avoided. It's important to remember, however, that fashion has little to do with the labels we wear. Fashion comes from expressing who we are on the inside. Our essence. The part of us that makes us unique. Despite what the red carpet tells us, it's not about who we're wearing. It's about how we're wearing it so it's true to who we are.

The older I get, and the more my style evolves, the more I realize which brands I can regularly rely on to align with my sense of style. As you might be able to tell from many of my previous posts, one of my favorite everyday brands is H&M. They are my go-to store when shopping, and it's because they always have items that reflect my personal style. Also, their clothing and accessories are very affordable (which is super important considering how frequently I shop), and unlike some other bargain brands, H&M is great quality and always on trend.

For my outfit inspiration this week, I styled my look around my black and white H&M maxi dress, perfect for a summer day, and chose to accessorize the look with brown and neutral colored pieces.

Less who, more you.

Dressed In:

I couldn't find the H&M maxi dress online in the print I'm wearing, so I included the same style dress, but with a different print instead. I was in the store last week and did see it there though!
