The Importance of Expression // Denim Jumpsuit

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.
— Martha Graham

I came across this quote while reading The Artist's Way, a book about opening yourself up to higher creativity (strongly recommend for all you creatives out there), and it really struck me. It's no groundbreaking discovery that we are all unique, nor is it news that our expressions or creations are special, but the part that did stand out to me was, "if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost."

Think of all the songs we would've missed out on if The Beatles never made music, all the laughter we'd be deprived of if Lucille Ball never shared her humor, or the art we wouldn't have seen if Picasso never painted. It makes me wonder what we DO miss out on when people have dreams, but don't chase them, or talents, but don't share them.

Don't deprive the world of your (yo)uniqueness. Express yourself. If you have a dream, go for it. If you have something you feel compelled to share, share it. The world needs your music, your art, your words, your expression.

For my outfit inspiration this week, I'm dressed in my denim jumpsuit that I've worn all summer long and am still not sick of. I'm such a sucker for anything denim so when I found this little number at Zara I fell in love - and lucky for you, it's now on sale and super discounted! What I love most about denim is there are so many ways you can wear it. For my look below, I chose to dress it up with my white Forever 21 mules and H&M clutch bag, but I've also worn it with sneakers or gladiator sandals for a more laid back look.

Don't deprive the world of your (yo)uniqueness.
