This time of year always seems to guarantee three things in NYC: cold weather, increased Seamless activity, and dark clothing. Then again, considering the unusually warm temps the last few weeks, the weather thing may no longer be a guarantee - but I digress.
Maybe it's because we're mourning the hours of sunlight lost, but there's something about this time of year that seems to get everyone dressing dark. Don't get me wrong, black is probably my favorite color to wear because it can be so many things: sophisticated, sexy, casual, corporate, chic, discreet, effortless. The list goes on. However, I do believe in switching things up -- in life and in outfits. It's important to break up the monotony of your every day, and do something a little different. It can be as drastic as changing your hairstyle (ladies, we all know how powerful a new do can be), or as simple as putting on an oversized, fiery red sweater. Because change, no matter how big or small, makes you feel something. It forces you to pay attention. To break away from the familiar and navigate new territory.
For my outfit inspiration this week, I've done just that. I'm still wearing elements of black in my skirt, tights, and boots, but opted for a bold red sweater on top to change things up. For accessories I'm wearing my silver mirrored sunglasses and black and white bucket bag for some added pop. Also, with all the holly jollying you'll be doing at holiday parties over the next week or so, this is a great option for some festive flare.
Change. It. Up.
