Be Bold // Patterned Coordinates

There is no passion to be found playing small - in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.
— Nelson Mandela

As I was getting dressed the other day it occurred to me: the same reluctant, fearful, feelings that creep up the moment we decide to follow a dream, can be felt when putting on a bold outfit. Maybe the stakes aren't as high, but the reactions will be the same. People will stare. People will mock you. People won't understand you. But then there will be the people who really fucking get you. The people who really love you. The people who see you walking down the street and feel inspired. The people who see you and think to themselves, "YASSS!!". As far as I'm concerned, these are the only people who matter.

So be it a dream, or an outfit - no difference. Be bold. Take the risk. And walk with your head high.

I've been really into coordinates lately so it's no wonder how much I'm living for this fab set by Derek Lam. The pattern evokes some major retro vibes, which I love, and is guaranteed to be a head turner given its bold pattern ;) The weather in New York has been straight up insane lately - one day it's 80, the next day it's flurrying followed by pouring rain - so I styled this look with a beanie and trench from French Connection, but feel free to adjust layers/accessories depending on what the weather decides to do that day! I finished the look with the Morning Plum Cross-Body bag by Angela Roi. If you're not familiar with Angela Roi, check out my post from last week to find out how this handbag co. is not only creating gorgeous bags, but also contributing to the greater good!

Head high sisterlady. Be bold.
