With the freezing temps as of recent, and Nor'easter Jonas on his way to the East Coast this weekend, I figured what better time than today for a little #FBF to my vacation in the beautiful, warm sunshine of the Bahamas a couple weeks ago.
My family and I haven't been away together in some time, so my mama made it her mission to book a trip after the new year. We stayed at the Meliá, in Nassau, and I cannot say enough good things about this resort. The food was very good, the drinks were strong, the staff was super accommodating, and the hotel itself was beautiful. I'm not exaggerating when I say we didn't have one complaint - other than not staying longer!
Days were spent laying on the beach with either a Bahama Mama or freshly cut coconut in hand, followed by paddle surfing on the sparkling, turquoise water - just as a tropical vacay should be spent, IMO. This little escape helped me to decompress after the craziness of the holidays and become focused, with an open heart and clear mind, for the new year ahead.
I know I'm not the only one who is hopping on a plane this winter for some relief from these freezing temps, so I wanted to share some inspo from my favorite tropical vacay essentials, and a photo diary of the Bahamas' beauty.
Here's to staying warm! Live in the sunshine ;)
This Hawaiian shirt might be one of my favorite purchases ever made. It reminds me of vacations and summer and is one of those items that just make me happy by wearing it. I bought it from Thriftwares in Brooklyn a couple years ago, and have styled it as everything from a cover-up at the beach to dressed up with white palazzo pants for dinner (which can be seen in my post from my trip to Miami last year).
When your "little" brothers aren't so little.
