Holiday Glam

I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy.

Happy Holidays, my loves!

Between today, and the first day of 2017, I'm sure your calendar is full of all the holiday gatherings and New Year's Eve parties you'll be attending, so today's post is dedicated to serving up some holiday glam for the festivities! Not only do I love a good party, but I love any excuse to dress up, especially when it comes to putting on my Holiday/NYE's best. I meannnn, my middle school/high school AIM screenname wasn't GLaMoUrGrL318 for nothing! But I digress.

For a high end glam piece, at a fraction of the price, I recommend Rent the Runway. Because who really wants to splurge on a gown after emptying their wallets on holiday shopping? Not this girl! This gorgeous, emerald, silk wrap dress I'm featuring is available at RTR and is absolutely perfect for a fancy holiday party. The rich, emerald color of this dress is what initially drew me to it, and the fabric and cut is what sold me. I've set up links to this exact look at the bottom of this post, in case you're sold too! I also curated a bunch of links to other dresses I recommend, in case you're in need of some last minute holiday outfit shopping assistance.

Now that we've talked holiday glam, parties, and outfits, I have one last piece of advice: don't let the holidays put you in a holidaze. The decorating, the shopping, the wrapping, the parties - it's enough to make anyone crazy. Make an effort to slow down and remind yourself to enjoy it all. The holidays tend to bring people together with all their different communities - family, friends, co-workers. Enjoy the people you've chosen to spend your precious time with. Be grateful for them. Clink glasses with them. Laugh with them. Because that is what it's really all about.

Here's to a very Merry Christmakwanzakah, and a happy and healthy New Year!

Fall Florals for the Win. Be Always Blooming.

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.

Happy Friday!!

I've headed back to Jersey for the weekend to check some things off my (very long) wedding to-do list with my mama. I'm really looking forward to being productive this weekend and spending time with my family, but before I do any of that we need to discuss this romper by Yumi Kim and why I love florals for fall.

This might be one of the last few weekends my legs see the sun before they're banished to pants and stockings for the remainder of fall / winter, so if you couldn't tell, I'm savoring every last second and exercising my right to bare legs until the temperatures tell me otherwise. This romper is part of Yumi Kim's fall collection, and I'm pretty obsessed. Firstly, it might be one of the most comfortable things I've ever worn, and secondly, I'm in love with the print. Whoever said florals were exclusively for spring and summer... boy, BYE! The darker shades of blue make this floral pattern work perfectly for fall as well. My only gripe with this romper is its price tag. It's definitely a splurge. I linked to this exact romper below, but also included similar options that are friendlier on the pockets!

Fall is the last quarter of the year. It's a coming of an end. A transitional period. Where the leaves change their colors and begin to fall from their branches, and where Mother Nature returns the flowers of spring and summer back to the dirt, to prepare for a new season. However, much like the fashionable floral patterns that made it beyond their usual spring and summer season, certain flowers will continue to bloom all year long as well, regardless of conditions. I think it's important to remember this. No matter what our circumstances. No matter our personal transitions - what's beginning for us, or ending - we can still continue to bloom.

Fall florals for the win. Be always blooming.

Oh, What a Shoe Can Do!

A shoe is not only a design, but it’s a part of your body language, the way you walk. The way you’re going to move is quite dictated by your shoes.

Happy Friday!

I hope you've been enjoying the first couple days of fall! It's still pretty warm in NYC, but you can definitely feel the weather starting to change, and I'm getting super excited for sweater weather, booties, and all things pumpkin!

Today I'm talking about what a shoe can do. Shoes are like the punctuation mark at the end of a sentence - the last thing we put on, yet the main indicator of the statement we're trying to make. Depending on the style of shoe, they can make a LBD formal or laid-back, slacks business or casual, and a romper beach or club-appropriate.

The right pair of shoes can elevate you. Yes, a nice pair of heels can literally elevate you to higher heights, but a shoe with or without a heel can uplift you as well. The right pair of shoes can put a little pep in your step. A boost of confidence. They also can take any outfit and instantly make it more exciting.

For my outfit inspo this week I'm rocking destroyed denim jeans and a tee, with my Steve Madden stiletto sandals - an example of using shoes to make an outfit more exciting. I love putting pieces together that don't seem like a match; the final product is almost always more interesting and unique than the traditional route. The jeans and t-shirt are very casual, but when paired with the right shoe it instantly takes the outfit to the next level. I completed the look with two of my every day staples: my Rebecca Minkoff bag and ray-Ban sunnies.

Break out your favorite pair of shoes and have a great weekend :)
